Nursing sisters with 40 years plus experience are being sidelined by AHPRA due to not meeting the standards for nurses going into the fast pace hospital environment which geriatric aged care does not require.

The elderly can be looked after safely in their homes often only needing a little assistance and above all easing their anxieties and monitoring their medication. Could AHPRA please not consider a niche for those Sisters not wanting to work in the fast paced hospital environment.A large gap could be filled sharing their knowledge and giving solid safe care for the elderly.
