A SIMPLE SOLUTION IS NEEDED TO STREAMLINE OUR TRUCKING MOVEMENTS AND ELIMINATE THE HIGH INCIDENCE OF EMPTY TRUCK TRIPS AND LONG DELAYS AT THE STEVEDORE TERMINALS. TODAY'S TECHNOLOGY CAN MAKE THE PROCESS TRANSPARENT AND VISIBLE FOR ALL DRIVERS AND TRUCKING COMPANIES REGARDING MOVEMENTS AND SCHEDULING. LONG QUEUES AND DELAYS CAN BE ELIMINATED WITHOUT THE NEED FOR BILLIONS IN FUNDING . LET'S EMPOWER ALL DRIVERS WITH THE ABILITY TO BE THEIR OWN BOSS VIA A MOBILE SHARING DEVICE. 'UBER FOR TRUCKS'. TRUCKING COMPANIES AND/OR OWNER/DRIVERS WOULD HAVE ACCESS TO A SHARED PLATFORM TO ENABLE VISIBILITY ACROSS THE WHOLE ENTIRE SUPPLY CHAIN AND HIGHLIGHT THE SUB OPTIMAL TRANSPORT ROUTES. AT THE MOMENT THEY HAVE NO ACCESS TO WHARF INFORMATION AND RELY ON A VBS (VEHICLE BOOKING SYSTEM) WHICH IS GENERATED 24 HOURS IN ADVANCE. ANY DELAYS TO VESSELS OR EQUIPMENT OR COMPUTER BREAKDOWN IS NOT RELAYED AND TRUCK CONGESTION AND LONG DELAYS OCCUR. THIS HAPPENS OFTEN. TO ASSIST DRAMATICALLY WE NEED TO INCREASE THEIR VISIBILITY AND IMPROVE THE PLATFORM OF INFORMATION SHARING.

TRUCK OWNER/DRIVERS AND COMPANIES WILL BE PAID EVERY 24HOURS DIRECT INTO THEIR NOMINATED BANK ACCOUNT, VIA AN AUTOMATED SYSTEM. THERE WILL BE NO CHEAP LABOUR HIRE BY UNSCRUPULOUS TRUCKING COMPANIES. THE APP WILL PROVIDE FOR AUTOMATIC SERVICE SCHEDULING AND 24 HOURS SERVICE IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG. TRUCKER APP WILL ALSO BE USER FRIENDLY ADVISING DRIVERS OF NEAREST REST STOP, ATMS WITH TRUCK PARKING FACILITIES, NEAREST WEIGH STATIONS, FUEL STOPS, HOTELS/SHOPPING CENTRES/TRAVEL AGENTS ETC WITH PARKING FOR TRUCKS.

THE CURRENT INEFFICIENT AND ANTIQUATED TIME SLOTTED SYSTEM TRIES UNSUCCESSFULLY TO MATCH TOO MANY VARIABLES. (AVAILABILITY OF CONTAINERS ON WHARF, WATERFRONT LABOUR REQUIREMENTS, OPERATING HOURS OF CONTAINER PARKS AND EXPORT/IMPORT WAREHOUSES, TRUCK/DRIVER AVAILABILITY, ETC ETC ETC). BY USING THE LATEST IN TECHNOLOGY AND WORKING OFF THE SAME SHARED PLATFORM, WE CAN ELIMINATE DELAYS AND UNNECESSARY CONGESTION IN AND AROUND THE PORT AREA. VICE VERSA...PORT TO IMPORT WAREHOUSE AND THEN BACK TO EMPTY CONTAINER TERMINAL.

THEY WONT BE COMMITTED TO A TERMINAL TIME SLOT WHICH IS INFLEXIBLE AND THE ABSOLUTE CAUSE OF LONG DELAYS AND CONGESTION! THIS MODEL WILL WORK BECAUSE BOTH SIDES OF THE MARKET GET TO INTERACT ON A FAIRLY FREE BASIS AND THAT CREATES CLOSE TO A PERFECT MARKET. (HIGH CONTAINER HANDLING FEES AND WAITING TIME REPRESENTS APPROX $150 OR 55% OF THE TOTAL JOURNEY COSTS!) THIS WILL REDUCE OVERALL COSTS FOR ALL IMPORTERS AND EXPORTERS! THIS IS A MAJOR WINDFALL FOR THE ECONOMY.

FROM PICK UP THE DRIVER CAN TAKE THE CONTAINER DIRECT TO THE PORT FOR EXPORT AND LOG ON TO PICK UP ANOTHER IMPORT GOING BACK TO CUSTOMER. (ALSO ELIMINATING EXTRA MOVEMENTS AROUND THE PORT).

WHEN THE DRIVER ACCEPTS A JOB, THE DRIVER DETAILS (PHOTO AND LICENCE ID) ARE SENT TO THE CUSTOMER ALONG WITH ETA. THE DRIVER WILL HAVE REAL TIME MAPS AND WILL ALSO BE ABLE TO ACTIVATE VERBAL GUIDANCE TO DESTINATION IF NEED BE. ALL THIS WILL ELIMINATE THE HIGH INCIDENCE OF EMPTY TRUCKS MAKING UNNECESSARY TRIPS. INSTEAD OF ONE TRUCK FOR THE WHOLE ROUND TRIP, (WITH EMPTY LOADS) WE WILL HAVE ALL THE DRIVERS WORKING IN UNISON TO ELIMINATE UNNECESSARY TRIPS.
