Australia must invest tax payer's money towards the defence of our own people and property, by building the most advanced squadron of fire fighting aircraft on earth. The real threat to Australian lives is bushfire, and fire storms.
Let's divert a portion of our defence budget to establishing a base for fire fighting aircraft in Australia, and grow the squadron as quickly as possible, so bushfires can be fought rapidly and effectively within a short time. During our winter, the squadron can be deployed to the northern hemisphere on a "user pays" basis, and those funds can buy additional aircraft (to be manufactured in Australia). The threat of uncontrolled bushfire is more realistic than the threat of foreign invasion at this time, so why don't we gear up to fight bushfires in a comprehensive way?
