The salon helping acid attack victims

A beauty salon in Lahore, Pakistan, has become a refuge for women who've been attacked by acid. Since the first victim walked through her door and asked for her help, the owner, Musarat Misbah, has aided hundreds of affected women.

For more than a decade, beauticians have worked with acid attack victims to help them recover their health and confidence. Through donations, Musarat Misbah pays for their medical treatment and then trains them for the workplace. Some now work at her salon.

One of her most experienced beauticians was an acid attack survivor. In 2014, over 160 acid attacks were recorded in Pakistan, yet this is one of the few charities that have taken on the issue.
