New Zealand law allows a number of casual and fixed-term workers access to sick leave. The threshold for accessing sick leave is set at employees needing to have worked for an organisation for six months and have worked for an average of 10 hours a week including at least one hour per week or 40 hours per month before they can access sick leave.
